Springfield min .45 ACP is about the best inexpensive carry quality sidearm one can buy.

Tough choice. Sig now has SAO mode and rails. XD has all the super modern features. I guess it comes down to whether or not you want metal frame or polymer one. I suspect the size of your hands will also determine your comfort level...

I have one of each and they are both fine weapons. The Springfield of coarse is high capacity where as the Sig is not but the Sig's fit and finish is better along with the Sig's fit in your hand is one of the best. My Springfield came with Trijicon night sights but I still like the stock Sig sights better than any I have encountered. Basically they both reliably go bang, they are both accurate and well made so it is a matter of personal preference as they are both very good.
