Review Summary: sig-p220

The quest is over

The good qualities: The rumors are true, the P220 shoots dead on right out of the box, err included plastic carry case in this instance. No feed issues, extremely easy to field strip, no annoying grip safety (a personal peeve of mine). The gun feels as if it belongs in your hand and all but glues itself to your palm.
The bad qualities: This is a 100% no BS topnotch handgun and you will pay for the quality if you want to experience that “gun from the gods” feeling. $1000+ for the weapon, and a few extra mags is a bit steep for some.
In a NutShell: This is a gun for serious shooters who KNOW what good firearms craftsmanship is all about. If you are looking to invest in an outstanding handgun and want to get your moneys worth then you need to consider a Sig P220. No company paid me thousands of dollars in ad space to plug a product. I PAID a lot of money for this gun and feel that I got a screaming good deal. The prices of these guns are going up every day; get em while you can before they are priced out of reach.

Review Detail:

Lets keep it short. This gun is double/single action, has no grip safety (I find them annoying and distracting), comes with a decocker, and weighs in at almost 2 pounds (I purchased the stainless model with a tactical rail). No polymers or plastics here, just good old fashion steel and lots of it. Houge grips from the factory where included and I paid for a night sight upgrade. This gun sports a minimum of safety features, if you don’t know how to safely handle a handgun then don’t look at this make and model as an option, this is simply all gun and no BS. Groups from 7 and then 25 yards are all very nice and right were I want them from the get go with no adjustment to the sights. Recoil is not an issue with a weapon of this magnitude (and mass). There are no feed problems, and fieldstripping takes about 2 minutes to master after which you can easy pull the gun apart in seconds. I chose this gun over the Para Ordnance LDA 14.45 and the Beretta 96 Vertec (.40 cal.). Reliability and accuracy won the day over higher capacity, and exotic trigger systems.
