Sig220-Jan 6 2004 I am new to handguns and I have been shopping around for months. I shot the Jennings and Larcin 9mm. This of course is not worth the price of shells. Then I was trying to get my hands on a glock (G23), my friends in law enforcement were swearing by the glock. I held, operated the glock and wasn't fully impressed. Finally a gun shop owner turned me onto the Sig P220. It was about the same size as the glock, easy to tear down/clean, and the recoil was so smooth. I was very very impressed and will keep this gun for many moons Details..

-Nov 24 2003 As a former marine armorer, retail gun salesman, range officer, and IPSC competitor, no major caliber combat (not race) gun has the same accuracy and quick sight acquisition as does the P220. I have shot at least a dozen different custom 1911s, Glocks, Rugers, and other .45s and none can compare to the safety, reliability, and ease of use of the P220. After putting many thousands of rounds through my 220 and carrying it concealed for over six years, I just don't think that there is a better .45 for me to trust my life and my family's lives to. -Sep 19 2003 Lets keep it short. This gun is double/single action, has no grip safety (I find them annoying and distracting), comes with a decocker, and weighs in at almost 2 pounds (I purchased the stainless model with a tactical rail). No polymers or plastics here, just good old fashion steel and lots of it. Houge grips from the factory where included and I paid for a night sight upgrade. This gun sports a minimum of safety features, if you don’t know how to safely handle a handgun then don’t look at this make and model as an option, this is simply all gun and no BS. Groups from 7 and then 25 yards are all very nice and right were I want them from the get go with no adjustment to the sights. Recoil is not an issue with a weapon of this magnitude (and mass). There are no feed problems, and fieldstripping takes about 2 minutes to master after which you can easy pull the gun apart in seconds. I chose this gun over the Para Ordnance LDA 14.45 and the Beretta 96 Vertec (.40 cal.). Reliability and accuracy won the day over higher capacity, and exotic trigger systems. Details..
